A 2 day animation workshop where students were charged with creating a short film, from preproduction, to animation and post production.

Visitors From Dreams was invited to volunteer its time to the Inquiring Minds program, a collaboration between Armidale City Public School and Thalgarrah EEC. The goal was simple, to take a class of 8 students, split them into pairs, and over the process of 2 days, have them not only conceptualise a film, but also animate, edit and do the sound mixing for their project.

The number of ideas and subjects varied from evil snow men, to explosive crime dramas and races through public transport, with most of the students having little to no prior animation knowledge or experience.

During the 2 day program students were also taken out into the forest to learn how to create light paintings in the complete darkness of nature, an artistic medium none of the students had previously got to experiment with.

We are proud of what these students accomplished, both creatively and technically, especially given the students prior lack of experience and we hope they go on to continue animating at home in their own time.
