Bellingen Elopement

I am in no way a real wedding photographer, I never have been and never will be. These are very special days and something I personally find way too high pressure for my own personal tastes. That said, when I was approached about photographing an elopement specifically in my own style, I found it very difficult to say no. The elopement was to take place outside of the lovely little town and Bellingen and was to be incredibly small in scale. Wanting a little more of a womens touch for some shots (not to mention the extra coverage) I also invited my friend Evelyn from Peacock Photography along to help out.

A last minute addition to the shoot was a bridal boudior session before the elopement, something I was feeling quite confident about after my recent boudior shoot with Amy at Temptations in Tamworth. While I might not be interested in shooting weddings, I don’t think I would mind being asked to shoot more brial boudior sessions.

In the end, while I was hired to shoot exclusively in black and white, I did find myself creating a lot more color images than I, or the client, original expected, and this being despite the fact the weather on the day being absolutely miserable… or maybe it was because of the bad weather… In either case, with the client being a fan of fairy tales I thought it would be a good oppertunity to try and create some images with a more painterly, fantasty book feel, and I think its something I managed to mostly achieve.

It’s always nice when despite feeling completely out of your element at the time of shooting things still somehow all come together and you end up with a very happy client. I am so greatful to have been approached and had the oppertunity to work on this project as it’s not something I ever would have hunted down for myself. If you’re reading this and having a wedding yourself sometime soon and are thinking you might like something a little different to the usual wedding photographer offerings out there… then why not reach out?
