The Elder Abuse Prevention and Support Service plays a vital role in assisting older people and their families to navigate family conflict. The service aims to foster healthier relationships while addressing and reducing the risks of abuse, exploitation, and neglect. Despite its importance, elder abuse remains a sensitive and often taboo subject, making public awareness campaigns both essential and challenging.

In response to this challenge, Relationships Australia NT partnered with Visitors From Dreams and iTalk Studios to create an engaging animated short designed to address this complex issue. This collaboration marked the second time iTalk Studios and Visitors From Dreams worked together for the organization, building on their successful history of crafting meaningful and impactful content.

The project was a collaborative effort, with scriptwriting led by iTalk Studios. Their expertise in storytelling ensured that the narrative would resonate with audiences while maintaining the delicate balance required for such a sensitive topic. Visitors From Dreams took charge of art direction, animation, and editing, bringing their distinctive, tactile aesthetic to the project.

The animation was designed to open up conversations around elder abuse in a way that felt approachable, helping to break down barriers and reduce stigma. By leveraging animation as a medium, the project hopefully navigates the delicate balance of addressing elder abuse while remaining accessible and relatable. The short film not only raises awareness but also serves as a resource for families and service providers, illustrating the importance of open communication and early intervention.
